Luxury Psychedelic Retreats Are Coming in 2022, Starting With These From Silo Wellness

Share

Leading psychedelics medicine company Silo Wellness has announced the launch of a series of luxury psychedelic therapy retreats for 2022.

Building on the demand for psilocybin-assisted therapy, Silo Wellness’s first batch of retreats for 2022 will happen in Jamaica, where the company sources its psychedelic and functional mushrooms.

“We are witnessing the rise of a new category in travel—dubbed ‘psychedelic tourism’. The feedback we’ve received from our psychedelic retreat attendees has been both inspiring and humbling,” Douglas K. Gordon, CEO, Silo Wellness, said in a statement.

Wellness tourism is expected to be a top trend for 2022 as travel muted by the pandemic starts to make a comeback. Consumers are seeking more value in their travel experiences.

“People are looking for what is really important to them, including mindfulness, meditation, and spirituality,” Catherine Heald, co-founder and CEO of Remote Lands, a New York-based luxury travel company, told Barron’s last month. She says outdoor connections will play a significant part in travel plans—anything from hiking to forest bathing on top of other wellness-focused travel experiences.

The psilocybin surge

Silo Wellness is a leading manufacturer of functional and psychedelic mushroom and truffle products, including a co-branded Bob Marley line of functional medicine tinctures, Marley One, which launched earlier this year. The publicly traded Toronto-based company operates in Jamaica and Oregon.

The announcement comes as psychedelics are seeing a groundswell of support from governments, investors, and health experts. Last year, Oregon became the first state to legalize psilocybin for therapeutic use. Across the U.S., a number of cities, including Washington D.C., have decriminalized recreational psychedelic use. The U.S. psychedelic drug market size is expected to reach $10.75 billion by 2027, according to a report published earlier this year.

The retreats will be hosted at the Good Hope Villas in Jamaica’s Trelawny parish. Psilocybin use is not illegal in Jamaica. Silo Wellness says it works closely with the island’s Indigenous Rastafarian community to implement and facilitate the psilocybin retreats.

The company is kicking off 2022 with its first retreat at the end of January. The retreat is focused on finding purpose, the company says.

Retreat guests will receive a complete kit of the Marley One tinctures ahead of the retreat along with a signed copy of Purpose by Jessica Huie, acclaimed author and founder of The Purpose Academy.

The March retreat is geared toward women, according to Silo Wellness. It will focus on cultivating personal power, self-reflection, transformation and self-inquiry through yoga, mindfulness, and meditation sessions alongside the psilocybin.

The third retreat, slated for May, sees a focus on creativity. The goal of the retreat is to help guests “liberate” their creative selves—with music, art, and writing workshops throughout the retreat.

“Across the globe, people are recognizing the potential of psychedelic mushrooms and are eager to have those experiences,” Gordon says. “At Silo Wellness, we believe everyone has the right to access nature’s bounty of plants and fungi, and we’re proud to make this a reality through our latest curation of wellness retreats.”

All retreats run for four nights and five days. Prices range from $3,150 to $4,595 depending on accommodation choices. For more information, visit Silo Wellness’s website.
