3 Easy Morning Wellness Rituals That Will Improve Your Entire Day

Share

Morning wellness rituals make all the difference in how we attack our days. Are you missing out on these easy daily routines?

How we do anything is how we do everything, as the saying goes. And that’s no more evident than in how we start our days. Morning routines matter—whether you’re up at the crack of dawn or pushing the snooze button just one more time. Improve your morning rituals and watch the rest of your day–and your life!–follow suit. These tips can help.

1. Personalize your vitamin regimen

Persona Nutrition takes the guesswork out of nutrition by crafting a supplement regimen that’s 100 percent unique to your body’s needs. And this matters more than you may think. If your daily vitamins are a cookie cutter one-size multi, you may be missing out on key nutrients that give you the strength and nourishment you need. What’s more, if your diet is abundant in certain nutrients already, there’s no need to spend money supplementing those.

How it works: through a simple assessment quiz, Persona’s nutritionists identify your health goals and possible deficits. They then craft the perfect subscription-based supplement regimen so you never fall short on your health and wellness needs.

With just five minutes for the assessment, you can customize your nutrition pack to include extra immune support, energy boosters, brain health, digestive assistance, and more.

Trust the experts here; Persona’s doctor-approved nutrition team has assisted more than 100,000 patients with meeting their health goals.

Plus, the company doesn’t just take your health seriously, it’s in it for the planet, too. Persona Nutrition follows green principles in all of its packaging design. The Washington State-based company sources all of its paper and fibers from local, sustainable producers. All of the supplement dispenser boxes are made from 100 percent post-consumer waste and designed for repeated use. It’s fully recyclable when you’re done, too.

2. Hydrate

It may seem like a simple, inconsequential thing, but morning hydration really matters for your health. If your first morning activity is to run for the coffee machine, you may be setting yourself up for a bad day.

That’s not to say coffee is bad (it so isn’t!). But it’s not the first liquid you want to put into your body morning after morning. That needs to be water. A big, full glass of water. There are different schools of thought on whether you should add lemon to your water, or drink it warm instead of room temperature. But the truth is, none of that really matters as much as simply hydrating with water.

Hydration helps you to flush out the stomach and bring balance to the lymphatic system by removing toxins. This brings support to the immune system, which means you may avoid infections like the common cold and flu.

But there’s another reason to ensure you’re properly hydrated before you start the caffeine machine. When we’re dehydrated, we can mistake that for hunger, and if we start our day without water, we may reach for unhealthy treats to go with the coffee (hello, donut). And, what’s worse, that pattern can continue throughout the day, leading us to overindulge in sugary snacks just to keep our energy levels going. What’s the point of aiming for a healthy morning ritual if we’re just going to let the rest of the day go south?

Pro tip: set an alarm—yes, an alarm!—to remind you to drink at least eight ounces of water before you make your coffee or tea or even that superfood smoothie.

3. Prioritize a healthy sleep routine

The best way to ensure you stick to your morning routine is to stick to your bedtime routine. It can take some effort to get into a better sleeping rhythm, but some tricks can help.

You’ve likely heard it a million times already, but avoid screens at least an hour before bed. If that’s not an option, opt for blue light blocking glasses. The blue light from screens can decrease your body’s natural melatonin production, and that can keep you awake, irritated, and staring at the screen for too long.

Persona Nutrition offers sleep promoting supplements too that may help you to develop better sleep hygiene. Melatonin is considered a safe, non-habit forming supplement for occasional use in helping you fall asleep faster and sleep better overall.

A good habit to add in is reading—from a book or magazine. Reading helps to calm the mind and it gets you away from the screen.

Another way to ensure you stick to your morning routine is to spend some time at night (and even again in the morning!) meditating. You don’t need a spiritual or religious practice to meditate and there are many reasons to do it. Meditation has been shown to reduce blood pressure, increase focus, and help with anxiety and other mood disorders. And it can make it easier to drift off for the night, so you’re rested and ready to face the day.
